Mr Akshdeep Singh Bawa

Biography

Mr Akshdeep Singh Bawa is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery, with expertise in trauma, complex reconstructions and diabetic limb salvage. He trained at premier UK institutions, including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, and St George’s University Hospital, London.

In 2017, he completed a Travelling Fellowship in Sports Surgery at Tohoku University Hospital, Sendai, Japan, under Professor Minoru Tanaka, gaining advanced exposure to sports medicine and shoulder and arthroscopic techniques.

National leadership

An active leader in national orthopaedics, Mr Bawa serves as a Council Member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) and has contributed to landmark national audits including BOOM, FATE and FALCON.

Education & quality improvement

He is passionate about surgical education and quality improvement, designing teaching programmes for trainees across the East of England, and was nominated for Trainer of the Year (East of England, 2024/25).

Publications & editorial work

He has authored peer-reviewed publications and edited key surgical texts, including Churchill’s Pocketbook of Surgery and Introduction to FRCS T&O.

Global outreach

Committed to global outreach, he has volunteered in rural health camps in India and co-organised international surgical missions such as Operation Walk Ludhiana.
